Hypertext was invented by a Jesuit priest!

You might've heard that the Big Bang was first theorized by a religious Catholic man. But did you know that the Hypertext - one of the building blocks of the Internet - was also invented by a Catholic?
Jesuit priest, Father Roberto Busa was a forerunner of active hypertext on the web 15 years before American scientists started working on it.
However, his work in hypertext was a little more limited than the research that eventually gave us the Internet as we know it.
His main work was creating a concordance of the works of St. Thomas Aquinas. His work indexed all of his writings and allowed you to look up instances of each word used by Aquinas in his work.
Learn more about Busa at the source!
