Jack Nicholson almost became an animation artist for Hanna-Barbera instead of an actor!

Few artists have a career such as Jack Nicholson's. He's renowned for having portrayed many unique and challenging roles.
He's probably best known for playing Jack Torrance in The Shining, The Joker in Batman and Frank Costello in The Departed. He's one of two actors to be nominated for an Oscar in every decade from the 1960s to the 2000s (the other is Michael Caine).
Did you know that he could've possible been an animator for shows such as Scooby Doo and Josie and the Pussycats instead?
When he first came to Hollywood, he worked in the MGM cartoon studio, where legendary animation producers William Hanna and Joseph Barbera worked at the time.
He worked as an errand boy, but they saw his talent and offered him a job as an entry level animation artist. He declined, because he wanted to become an actor.
Hanna and Barbera later left MGM to create their own studio, taking some personnel from MGM. This means that there could've been a chance that Jack Nicholson would've drawn Scooby Doo instead of being in Oscar nominated movies!
