What that means is that animals with fast metabolic rates such as hummingbirds and fruit flies experience time a lot slower than the rest of us.
As one of the researchers explains, "For example, flies owe their skill at avoiding rolled-up newspapers to their ability to observe motion on finer timescales than our own eyes can achieve, allowing them to avoid the newspaper in a similar fashion to the 'bullet time' sequence in the popular film 'The Matrix."
Furthermore, the study suggests that time perception changes with age, and that is why a short period of time like 15 minutes, can seem like a century and a half to little kids!
