Lawrence's wife states that he was fully aware of the emotional capabilities of animals, and that he would have written an extensive essay about the elephants arriving at his doorstep - but wouldn't anyone?
Animals mourning the loss of a friend of a family member isn't uncommon, and there have been a few recorded cases of animals doing so. When a herd of elephants arrived at Lawrence Anthony's doorstep after he passed away, not only is it amazing, but it is tear jerking.
This case adds elephants to the list of animals that display emotions, or appear to be grieving or mourning the death of a loved one! That is, of course, if you believe such a crazy story!
